Vons: Check your receipts!

by Jess on August 14, 2010

Reader, Ildi, alerted me to a problem with two of the coupons found in the new Vons/Safeway “Sandwich” coupon booklet. If you have used, or plan to use, the $1/1 bread coupon or $1 off produce coupon, check your receipts to make sure the discounts were actually applied. Apparently both coupons are scanning as $0.00 at the register and the register isn’t beeping from the error so shoppers and checkers aren’t noticing the error.

One thing about using coupons, especially at Vons, is that it’s so helpful to get in the habit of always scanning your receipt for errors before leaving the store. I can’t tell you how many times Vons has screwed up my transactions, so much so that now I always make sure to count the number of the coupons and their value before I even get to the register. It makes auditing the receipt easier and I’m much more likely to catch errors like this one before leaving the store.

Hopefully they’ll have this error fixed soon, can you imagine how many people probably haven’t even noticed? Yikes!

Thanks, Ildi!

Used the Cq specifically that says 1.00 of 3 pack of hearts of romanine lettace (store cq from dairy book? or grillin?) and on receipit after buys say produce coupon 0.00. On my visit today i showed them the recepit and they just adjusted my transaction today for 1.00 less ;)

I had this problem with the coupons from their last coupon booklet! I made a point of alerting the clerk every time I used one of them, so they'd fix it before cashing out the transaction.
Also, I've noticed that the cashiers key in a code for the credit for my reusable bags, and it doesn't credit me the .10.
