{Expired} Vons: $50 in Groceries Delivered for FREE!!!

by Jess on December 15, 2010

Shop at Home. We Deliver. Vons.com

Update: Vons has now changed the way online orders are calculated. This deal is now dead. Sorry!

This is SO cool! I have yet to jump on the Vons Home Delivery bandwagon, my main complaint being that they don’t allow manufacturer coupons to be used on your purchase. However, here’s an awesome way to score $51 worth of groceries for FREE, and yes, you totally just read that right. It’s a little complicated, but trust me it’ll be worth it!

***This deal will only work for
FIRST TIME Home Delivery Customers!***

Step 1.)
Head over to Vons.com and add $50 worth of items that are on sale for Buy One, Get One Free to your cart. (Vons requires your cart be at least $50 for delivery orders, however this minimum is calculated before the buy one, get one free discount is applied, which is why picking up these items is best!)

Deal Idea:
Buy (2) Sara Lee Frozen Desserts | BOGO ($7.69)
Buy (2) Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage | BOGO ($4.79)
Buy (2) Tyson Variety Pack Chicken | BOGO ($8.79)
Buy (2) Lays Potato Chips | BOGO ($4.39)
Subtotal: $51.32 (before BOGO discount is applied)

Step 2.)

Step 3.)

  • Now that you’re on the Safeway site, you’ll see your Vons cart has moved over. Head to checkout and enter coupon code SAVE694 in the promo box to save $20 off your order and snag FREE delivery. (If that code gives you trouble, use CJSAVINGS to save $15 and get free shipping)
  • If you picked up the same items from the example above, your total should now show $31.32. Vons is a little weird and will deduct the buy one, get one free savings (in this case, $25.66) upon delivery.

Step 4.)

  • When the nice delivery person arrives, your bill should now show $5.66. But how is it FREE you ask? You’re getting $12 cash back from Shop at Home! So really, you sort of made some money. Sweet. Even if you don’t go through Shop at Home, you’re still snagging one seriously awesome deal.

Tip: Don’t feel like you have to pick up the same items as mentioned in the example above, because you can check out this link here for a HUGE list of other items that are currently on sale for buy one, get one free this week.

(Thanks, The Frugal Find)

In addition, I already had $13.48 cashback on shopathome, so this purchase just put me over the $20 line to get my $20 cashback check, sweet!

IT WORKS!! I put in my order on Monday but I used the code SAVE694 instead (you get $20 off plus free shipping instead of the $15 off with CJSAVINGS). They delivered it today within the timeframe I chose :)

Yes, please let us know how it goes. … I just want to make sure it works fine. I'd hate to say to the guy, "Hey buddy, this was only supposed to be $5" and then slam the door in his face and turn out the porch light. :-)

Do you tip the delivery person?

I can confirm that this does work. I did it on Monday, they were out of the ground turkey, so I ended up only paying $2.50 they still gave me the promo code even though I didn't get all the items. I was a happy camper! :)

Thank you so much for this info! I just signed up to have some groceries delivered. To Anonymous, in my confirmation email, it said, "Please remember! Our drivers do not accept tips but do appreciate your gratitude!" I'm excited to get my delivery–I always felt like only posh people got their groceries delivered. Woo hoo, now I can be posh too!

To answer the person above regarding tipping, I found this on the FAQ page:

Do your drivers accept tips
Tipping is not necessary, and our drivers do not accept tips. Our goal is to give you high-quality service at the lowest possible price

Just wondering … I ordered my groceries and they will be delivered tomorrow. My estimated total on the website was $32.10, but when my confirmation e-mail came it said "The total estimated price for your order is $52.10 which includes any promotion code(s) that you may have used." I know the BOGO comes off on delivery, does the $20 promotional code come off on delivery as well?

It was 52.10 total, 32.10 was the $20 off your first purchase promo, upon delivery, your total will deduct the BOGO leaving your final grand total less than $5-$10 (depending what items you ordered)

$6.73 for me and $17 cash back savings. The delivery man showed me my total and said "Wow! How did you do that?" So much fun.

I only received $8 cashback from ShopAtHome. Did anyone else get $12?
