Coupon Lingo
Those of you new to coupons might be looking at some of these deals and thinking to yourself…. “what is she talking about?” The world of coupon lingo can get confusing at times, but have no fear! This simple guide will break it down for you so you can stop trying to decode and get on with saving.
$/$$ – Dollars off when you buy XX dollars
$1/1 – One Dollar off one item
.50/3 – Fifty cents off 3 items
AC - After Coupons
B1G1, BOGO, B1G1F – “Buy 1, Get 1 Free”
BC – Before Coupons
Blinkies – Coupon dispensed near product, in the store (usually from a “blinking” red box)
CAT- Catalina. Coupon dispensed at the register at time of purchase. Usually triggered from an item purchased.
CRT – Cash Register Tape (coupon that prints on your receipt)
CPN- Coupon
DCRT- Dated Cash Register Tape/Receipt
DND5 – Coupon says Do Not Double, but the bar code starts with a 5, most computers will still double it
ECB – Extra Care Buck (CVS)
FAR – Free After Rebate
GC- Gift Card
IP – Internet Printable (a coupon you print off the internet)

MFR – Manufacturer
MIR – Mail in Rebate
MQ – Manufacturer coupon
NED – No Expiration Date
OOP – Out Of Pocket Expense
Peelie – Coupon that you peel off the package
PG - Proctor & Gamble Sunday newspaper insert coupons
POP- Proof of Purchase (usually the UPC code)
Q – Coupon
Regional – Coupon value only distributed to a certain area
RP – Red Plum Sunday newspaper insert coupons
SASE – Self Addressed Stamped Envelope
SS – Smartsource Sunday newspaper insert coupons
SP- Stockpile
Tear Pad – Pad of coupons or refund forms found hanging from a store shelf or display
TMF- Try Me Free offer
UPC – “Universal Product Code”. It is that box of black lines (bar code) that the checker passes over the scanner at the checkout.
V – Valassis (former name of Red Plum inserts)
WSL – While Supply Lasts
WYB – When You Buy
